Finding Homes for Children in Taiwan

WACAP is excited to have been serving children in Taiwan since 2011, and our adoption experts are ready to assist you as you take the next steps toward bringing a child into your family.

About the Children

You can adopt a baby boy or girl as young as 9 to 12 months old at the time you’re matched. All of these children have individual needs or they’ve had challenging beginnings, known or unknown, such as being born more than eight weeks premature or having some prenatal exposure to drugs or alcohol. Others may have documented abuse or neglect, but in many cases, the children receive early care in loving foster homes. We can also help you adopt a child over 12 months old, up to age 15, and if you’re open to this age range, the time you’ll wait to be matched with your child may be shorter. If you’re interested in adopting siblings, we’ll help you bring home brothers and sisters waiting to be adopted together. You can also adopt a child who has a medical or developmental need from Taiwan; contact us to learn more about the children currently waiting for a family or visit our secure Waiting Child website.

Adopting From Taiwan

Both married couples and singles (on a case-by-case basis) are welcome to adopt from Taiwan.

Over the last couple of years, the Taiwan government has been amending its child welfare laws and refining intercountry adoption procedures. As you move forward with your adoption, we’ll continue to keep you informed of the newest developments and let you know what you can expect.

Because Taiwanese birth mothers are frequently involved in selecting an adoptive family, when you adopt from Taiwan, the birth family may request a meeting with you and/or request letters and photos after the child’s adoption. In some cases, the birth mother might only request ongoing correspondence after the adoption.

If you would like more information about the process or fees associated with adoption from Taiwan, or if you have questions about your adoption application, please contact us.

WACAP is one of a select group of agencies accredited under the Hague Convention on International Adoption and is proud to be recognized for upholding the highest ethical, legal and professional standards.
