Finding Homes for Children in Bulgaria

Since 2011, we’ve been serving children in Bulgaria, and our expert staff is ready to help you expand your family and welcome your child from Bulgaria home. Together with the Bulgarian government and our nonprofit partner agency in Bulgaria, we’re committed to finding homes for the many children living in Bulgarian orphanages. With opportunities for married couples as well as single men and women, adopting from Bulgaria could be the right choice for your family.

About the Children

You can adopt boys or girls from Bulgaria, from 12 months to 15 years old. You’ll find that many older children need homes and if you’re interested in adopting more than one child, sometimes siblings need to be adopted together. Some children with individual needs are also currently waiting for a family to call their own, and we’re here to help answer your questions. To see some of these children, visit our secure Waiting Child website or call our staff to learn more. You can also apply to adopt a child who’s younger and considered by the Bulgarian government to be healthy or have a need that’s correctible, though your wait will be longer to adopt these children.

Adopting From Bulgaria

Both married couples and singles are welcome to adopt from Bulgaria.

To adopt from Bulgaria, you must work with Hague-accredited homestudy and placing agencies.

WACAP is one of a select group of agencies accredited under the Hague Convention on International Adoption, and we’re proud to be recognized for upholding the highest ethical, legal and professional standards.

"At first I felt like I didn’t know where to start, but WACAP was there with me from beginning, always ready to answer my questions. From the very first bit of paperwork to that magical moment when I was matched with my son, when they said they’d be there at every step, they delivered." – WACAP Adoptive Family
