WHERE WE WORK: THAILAND
WACAP has worked with with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSDW) and the Thai Red Cross for over 25 years to provide basic needs and find families for the hundreds of children who live in Thai orphanages. WACAP staff work closely with Thai social workers to identify older children and children with special needs who are in need of adoption. WACAP’s expert child advocates are able to find adoptive parents for children with even the most difficult challenges such as children who are HIV positive, children who are older, and children with medical issues such as hearing loss, visual impairment, and cerebral palsy. WACAP’s capacity to find families for Thai children with special needs is dependent charitable contributions.
WACAP’s work in Thailand includes:
CLOTHING & SHOES FOR CHILDREN IN CARE
Each year, WACAP provides hundreds of pounds of clothing and shoes for children in orphanages all over Thailand.
ORPHAN IDENTIFICATION & ADVOCACY
WACAP staff travel to Thailand two times annually to obtain updated information on older children and children with special needs who are waiting for adoption. WACAP’s Family Finders staff then reaches out across the United States to find a family for each individual child who waits.
WACAP PROMISE FUND
Many children waiting to be adopted are older, have specific medical or developmental needs, or are siblings. Because of this, they have been left behind. WACAP has made a promise to these special children - to do our best to find families for them. WACAP’s Promise Fund supports our ability to identify waiting children around the globe, create materials to promote their adoption, and provide grants to families when finances are a barrier to bringing them home. With your donation, you can help WACAP find families for these specially-identified children.
PARTNER FOR CHILDREN IN THAILAND
