WHERE WE WORK: KOREA
WACAP has worked on behalf of orphaned and vulnerable children in Korea since 1976. In addition to finding adoptive families for children who wait, WACAP is able to strengthen families and promote permanency for children by acting through wonderful aid programs developed and established by Holt Children’s Services in Korea. WACAP supports projects such as daycare centers, family preservation counseling, community centers serving low-income families, care and housing for unwed mothers, and the Holt Ilsan Center, a group living project for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Each year, WACAP sends over $200,000 in charitable contributions and adoption fees to support these endeavors.
WACAP continues our commitment to finding families for waiting children in Korea. Since its inception in 2001, our Family Finders Program has found families for many Korean children who are older or have disabilities. Often times, the only hope these children had for a future with a family was the open spirit and love of WACAP adoptive parents, and the dedication and hard work of WACAP’s Family Finders Program staff.
WACAP’s work in Korea includes:
Support for Ilsan Holt Town
WACAP supports the Holt Ilsan Center which provides safe housing and activities for children and adults with disabilities.
WACAP PROMISE FUND - finding fAMILIES FOR CHILDREN IN KOREA
Many children waiting to be adopted are older, have specific medical or developmental needs, or are siblings. Because of this, they have been left behind. WACAP has made a promise to these special children - to do our best to find families for them. WACAP’s Promise Fund supports our ability to identify waiting children around the globe, create materials to promote their adoption, and provide grants to families when finances are a barrier to bringing them home. With your donation, you can help WACAP find families for these specially-identified children.
