WACAP Weekend
|
WACAP Weekend is our required two-day orientation/training course for prospective adoptive parents. If you live in Washington or Oregon, you must attend a WACAP Weekend as the first step in your homestudy. Before you make an appointment to attend, your WACAP application must be already processed, and you must have paid both your application and homestudy fees.
If you live in Alaska, you may be required to attend other training.

For Families Completing their Second Adoption:
Thank you for opening your home to another child! If you are adopting a child of the same general age as your first adopted child, and have attended training within the last two years, you do not need to attend WACAP weekend.
However, we do ask that you:
Attend four in-person WACAP Family Education classes prior to finalization (if you live within 70 miles of the WACAP office).
- OR -
Participate in four online classes and send us proof of completion certificates prior to finalization. You can find such classes at www.adoptionlearningpartners.org; www.BGcenterschool.org; www.adoptioneducation.com; www.sociallearning.com; www.universalclass.com (keyword: adoption).
- OR -
Attend a Saturday WACAP weekend session. Families who have attended a second time often find it very helpful for the child already in their home.
If you are adopting a child over age 3 for the first time, you are required to attend WACAP’s Adopting Toddlers to Teens class. For a current schedule, please contact us.
If you are adopting from a different country than your first adoption, please contact your Program Coordinator directly to learn specific details of the adoption process.
