Adopting from China

In 1990, WACAP placed a Chinese baby girl with an American family living in Guangdong Province. Since then, WACAP has worked closely with Chinese government adoption officials, orphanage officials and adoptive families to build an environment that best meets the needs of everyone involved in uniting Chinese orphans with American families.

By adhering to the highest ethical standard in international adoption, we have built a genuine relationship with the Chinese governmental adoption offices, particularly the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA). We've had the honor to host four CCAA delegations that have visited the United States, and most recently, WACAP's CEO was invited to speak at the CCAA's annual conference. Under the leadership of our China experts, Mary Moo and Bixin Huang, our China adoption team will provide the best services in helping to unite your family with a child in China who is waiting for a loving home. Over the years we’ve united nearly 1,500 children from China with new parents.

You may apply to adopt either an infant or a child who has already been referred for adoption and is waiting for parents.

Recent changes in Chinese adoption eligibility now prohibit single parents from adopting Chinese children. If you’re single, we encourage you to consider one of the other countries that WACAP works with. Currently singles may adopt through WACAP’s Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, African-American Infant and US Kids programs.
