Does your agency need adoptive families for African-American infants?
WACAP recruits, trains, educates and prepares parents to adopt African-American
and multiracial infants. If your agency needs homestudy- and profile-ready
adoptive parents, we’d like to talk with you.
How we’d like to work with you
If you ask WACAP to help you find homes for African-American infants, we’d add
you to our list of agencies available for adoptive parents to consider.
WACAP can send you prospective families’ homestudies, profiles, “Dear Birth
Parent” letters and all the other information you need. We hope you’ll present
their profiles to birth parents to consider.
At any time, nine to 30 WACAP families are waiting for African-American infants.
We update placing agencies weekly on the status of each family, and send alerts
if families are being considered by or matched with a birth parent elsewhere.
Who are WACAP’s families?
WACAP works with a diverse group of adoptive families, including
African-American, white, multiracial and other families of color; singles;
married couples; traditional and nontraditional families. While proudly serving
all of our families, we are committed to finding more African-American adoptive
parents. WACAP advocates for open adoptions, and WACAP families are requested to
be open to either gender and to both mono-racial and multiracial children. WACAP
families are prepared to pay placing fees of $5,000–19,000 at the time of
placement.
WACAP’s role
WACAP’s African-American Infant Adoption Coordinator represents the adoptive
family and is the contact person between the placing agency and the family.
Often, when the placement is about to happen, WACAP families work directly with
someone from the placing agency.
The placement agreement
When WACAP works with a placing agency, both parties enter into a
placement agreement.
This agreement clearly defines WACAP’s role and responsibilities in the
relationship.
